Starting in D.C.

Five years ago, we started with a simple idea: there's strength in numbers. Gathering together organizations across the Washington, D.C. metro area, we performed out first purchase of electricity as a cooperative. By purchasing power together, we not only lowered the our electricity bill, we also redirected our electricity consumption to renewable energy sources.

Since that initial purchase, we've expanded into other essential sectors, such as HVAC, cleaning, copiers, security, trash hauling, and landscaping. Throughout this expansion, we've prioritized contracting women- and minority-owned businesses.
